THE HERITAGE TRAIN


The Heritage Train is an iconic train running through the picturesque Choral Valley passes through several tunnels offering a spectacular view of waterfalls and lush green mountains of Vindhya Range in Madhya Pradesh. The Heritage Train is a meter-gauge passenger train that travels between Dr. Ambedkar Nagar railway station in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, and Kalakund. 

The meter gauge line has since been converted into a broad gauge line. The previous meter-gauge line had been constructed by Britishers in 1870s about 150 years ago.

The journey passing through 4 tunnels, 29 sharp turns, and 41 bridges on the route offering spectacular views of waterfalls and lush green mountain ranges along the route, makes it a very rocking and memorable trip for all.

The train departs from Dr. Ambedkar Nagar at 11:05 am and arrives at Kalakund station at 01:05 pm. After halting there for two and a half hours, the train departs at 3:35 pm and arrives at Dr. Ambedkar Nagar station at 4:30 pm.

The train halts at three points Patalpani Station, Patalpani Waterfalls, and Bridge number 647 en route to Kalakund. The Indian Railway charge ₹245 for an AC Vistadome coach seat and ₹20 for a non-AC coach seat.

Halt 1 is Patalpani Railway Station. The heritage train here crosses with Omkareshwar Rd - Dr. Ambedkar Nagar Passenger train.

Halt 2 is Patalpani Waterfalls. This is the Picnic Spot and the trains halts for 1 hour.


Halt 3 is Bridge Number 647 - The View Point. This iconic bridge is most renowned and highest bridge of the valley.
